THE REPUBLICAN WEEK

Welcome to the RNC weekly newsletter - The Republican Week - bringing you the biggest moments from the week.

THE MAIN THING: The Red Wave is Here

WATCH HERE:

Voters sent a message to Democrats on Tuesday: They’ve had enough of Joe Biden and Democrats’ far-left policies, and a red wave is coming to sweep them out in the midterms next year.

  • Tuesday’s results “are consistent [with] a political environment in which Republicans would comfortably take back both the House and Senate in 2022,” Cook Political Report’s Dave Wasserman said

GOP Sweeps Virginia:

  • Glenn Youngkin won his gubernatorial race with more votes than any Virginia governor in history.
  • Winsome Sears won her lieutenant governor race, becoming the Commonwealth’s first Black woman to hold the office
  • Jason Miyares won his race for attorney general, becoming the Commonwealth’s first Hispanic attorney general.
  • Republicans also flipped seven seats in the House of Delegates, putting them in the majority.

RNC Efforts:

  • The RNC made a multi-million dollar investment in Virginia to elect Glenn Youngkin and Republicans up and down the ballot, hiring over 100 field staffers, and opening 13 Victory offices across the Commonwealth.
  • RNC staff and volunteers made well over 5 million voter contacts to elect Republicans up and down the ballot in Virginia.

These victories come on the heels of a grassroots uprising of parents and citizens galvanized by the divisive critical race theory and the radical agenda being taught in Virginia classrooms.

  • While Democrat candidate Terry McAuliffe asserted parents have no role in their children’s education, Republicans leaned in.

It wasn’t just Virginia. Republicans won races all over the country, including a host of flips.

  • In Texas, Republican John Lujan flipped House District 118, a district Biden won by 14 points in 2020 and is 73% Hispanic. The win comes after the RNC opened a Hispanic community center in nearby Bexar County.
  • In Ohio, political newcomer Mike Carey won the special election in Ohio’s 15th Congressional District.
  • In New York, Republicans flipped three city council races, several key district attorney races, and two county legislature seats. Voters in Buffalo also rejected socialist, defund-the-police mayoral candidate India Walton, who was trounced by a write-in campaign.
  • In New Jersey: GOP gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli made significant gains in New Jersey, which Biden won by nearly 16 points last year. The race is currently only separated by a narrow margin.
    • Republicans flipped four county commission seats, including South Jersey’s 3rd Legislative District where truck driver Ed Durr beat the Democrat Senate President.
  • In Pennsylvania:
    • Republicans swept all five county council seats in bellwether Luzerne County.
    • In Pennsylvania’s statewide judicial elections, Republicans have won all three races that have been called, and looks like they will win the fourth to make a clean sweep
  • In Washington, deep-blue Seattle elected Republican Ann Davison, the first Republican to be elected city attorney in more than three decades.
  • In Minnesota, progressive stronghold Minneapolis overwhelmingly rejected Democrat-led efforts to eliminate their police department after a sharp spike in violent crime.

Voters “resoundingly rejected Joe Biden and the Democrat Party’s failed agenda,” wrote RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel.

  • “Since Biden took office, voters have seen that Democrats are divisive, incapable of governing, and lurching towards the extreme far-left.”

Republicans are excited about our prospects for 2022. We look forward to riding the red wave into the midterms.

RNC Hits Back on Biden Vaccine Mandate

Biden Lied. WATCH HERE

Taking Biden to Court:  The Republican National Committee announced it will sue the Biden administration for its unconstitutional vaccine mandate.

Announcing the lawsuit, Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel slammed Biden:

  • “Joe Biden failed to shut down the virus as he promised – he couldn’t do his job, so now he wants you to lose yours. This mandate is yet another attack on frontline workers, first responders, small businesses, and the rights of the American people.
  • “That’s why the RNC is suing the Biden administration over this unlawful vaccine mandate and will maintain every legal option to fight this authoritarian overreach."

An Attack On American Workers and Small Businesses: Biden’s vaccine mandate will be just the latest strain on workers and small businesses.

Requiring workers to choose between medical freedom and their livelihoods is unAmerican and an egregious overreach of federal power.

  • “Joe Biden failed to shut down the virus as he promised – he couldn’t do his job, so now he wants you to lose yours. This mandate is yet another attack on frontline workers, first responders, small businesses, and the rights of the American people." - Chairman McDaniel

The RNC is prepared to maintain every legal option to fight this authoritarian overreach.

Biden’s Failed Economic Agenda

Breaking: New Emerson polling shows more Americans feel Biden’s Economic Agenda would have a “negative impact” on their lives

Taking Credit: While President Joe Biden is trying to take credit for an uptick in employment, Republican states are leading the way. Americans are getting their jobs back in spite of Joe Biden and Democrats’ policies 一 not because of them.

  • Just yesterday, Biden announced a vaccine mandate that threatens the jobs of millions of workers and promises to make the supply chain crisis even worse.
    • One poll found that 7 in 10 unvaccinated workers would likely quit their jobs rather than adhere to the vaccine requirement.
  • U.S. economic growth is falling short of expectations under Biden, having suffered a " sharp deceleration ” in the third quarter.
  • The unemployment rate didn’t drop for all Americans – in fact, the unemployment rates for Black and Asian Americans didn’t budge.
  • The unemployment rates for women and Black men actually increased in October.

“After months of failed policies and bad jobs reports, the one person who does not deserve credit for creating jobs is Joe Biden,” said RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel

Bottom line: October’s jobs report is one we should’ve seen back in March. Democrats have done everything they can to sabotage the American worker and the middle class, whether it was shutting down the economy for months, paying people to stay home instead of returning to work, and now requiring Americans to choose between the vaccine and their jobs.

Democrats have nothing to brag about. Voters can see through their phony spin, and they’ll prove it at the polls next year.

RNC Election Integrity Ground Game Kicks in

From Early Voting through Election Day: The RNC is running the most comprehensive legal strategy to date. Our operation includes recruiting, training, and activating volunteers to be at polling locations throughout the voting process.

  • The RNC has been a national leader in election integrity operations, building the largest Election Operation in history with staffers dedicated to election integrity across the country.

Making it easier to vote: The RNC recruited and trained volunteers to poll watch and establish best practices to ensure that elections are free, fair, and transparent.

In Virginia, the RNC organized a robust poll watching operation and hosted trainings that cover poll watching and other best practices, equipping thousands of volunteers to effectively monitor election proceedings to ensure transparency.

  • RNC efforts in Virginia:
    • Held over 50 election integrity trainings with over 3,200 attendees.
    • Scheduled over 3,400 early voting poll-watching shifts as well as over 2,900 shifts on Election Day.
      • In 37 target Virginia counties, poll watchers have covered 100% of polling locations.
    • Engaged an estimated 500 attorneys involved with our integrity efforts in Virginia.

In New Jersey, the RNC collaborated with the New Jersey GOP and had lawyers covering every county in New Jersey to ensure legal transparency ahead of Election Day.

  • RNC efforts in New Jersey included filling 127 poll watching shifts on election day, which represents 122% coverage of our 104 targeted precincts across New Jersey.
    • Held over 30 poll watching trainings, recruiting and training 286 poll watchers and the team recruited 137 poll workers that worked just over 700 combined days.
    • Our election integrity program sent over 187,000 emails and over 54,000 texts to New Jersey voters.
