RNC STATEMENT ON BIDEN'S RISING CRIME CRISIS
WASHINGTON – Today, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel released the following statement on Biden's rising crime crisis:
"Joe Biden and Democrats’ soft-on-crime policies have destroyed American cities, emboldened criminals, and put Americans in harm's way. Democrats' attacks on the 2nd Amendment will not combat the crime wave they created."
Background:
- In 2021, violent crime spiked across the country, with fourteen major Democrat-run cities setting all-time high homicide records.
- Other Democrat-run cities experienced historic crime not seen in decades.
- Since coming into office, Biden has not stood with law enforcement, but rather surrounded himself with radical defund the police supporters.
- Democrat members of congress have doubled down in recent weeks on their agenda, saying: “[Democrats] cannot be afraid to talk about what ‘Defund the Police’ means.”
- In the latest CBS News poll, 61% of voters disapprove of Biden’s handling of crime. Similarly, a recent ABC News Poll found 59% of Americans disapprove of Biden’s handling of crime.
- Americans’ concern about crime and violence is at its highest level in years, with 53% worrying about crime a "great deal" according to Gallup.
