RNC STATEMENT ON BIDEN ADMINISTRATION ENDING TITLE 42
WASHINGTON – Today, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel released the following statement on the Biden administration’s decision to end Title 42:
“At every opportunity, Biden has enacted policies that open our southern border, empower drug smugglers and human traffickers, and make American communities less safe. Joe Biden has overseen the worst border crisis in DHS history. By removing Title 42, Biden’s doubling down on his commitment to actively worsening the crisis he created.”
Background:
- Biden's plan to end Title 42 is a disastrous decision that will “open the floodgates” of illegal immigration into the United States.
- The Department of Homeland Security is preparing for up to 18,000 illegal immigrants to enter the U.S. each day if Title 42 is repealed, overwhelming border officials.
- Up to 60,000 people are currently in northern Mexico waiting to cross into the U.S. once Title 42 is lifted.
- Title 42 was put in place by the Trump administration, and lets immigration officials immediately deport illegal immigrants to stop the spread of COVID-19.
- Over 150,000 illegal immigrants have crossed the border every month for 12 straight months – the worst border crisis in DHS history.
- However, 18,000 daily encounters would dwarf last year’s record-breaking border crisis.
