Redistricting Committee holds public hearings about new district lines

The General Assembly’s Joint Redistricting Committee is holding public hearings about the redistricting process during their statewide tour throughout the month of September. One of the hearings will be conducted at Forsyth Technical Community College 2100 Silas Creek Parkway, in the Robert Strickland Center, on Tuesday, September 14th beginning at 4 pm.

Members of the public are invited to attend and encouraged to sign up to speak on-site, an hour before the hearing begins, or online. The sign-up portal will close four hours before the hearing begins.

The House and Senate Committees on Redistricting and Elections, which includes Senator Joyce Krawiec, adopted their redistricting standards during a joint meeting on August 12th. The committee promised to be open and transparent to help assure the public that the new districts will not be gerrymandered.

The committee has already publicly announced that it will not use racial or political data and draw fair and legal new congressional, state house and senate districts. The committee also promised to adhere to the Stephenson v. Bartlett, a 2002 case in which the North Carolina Supreme Court ruled that multimember districts were unconstitutional. They also plan to keep most communities together, including, to the extent possible, counties and municipal boundaries.

Anyone that would like to speak at the public hearing at Forsyth Tech on Tuesday, September 14th, may sign up here.

Senator Joyce Krawiec

VOTER INTEGRITY COMMITTEE

“Profiles of Integrity”

So many patriots in the field of Election Integrity and so little time.  My new series of articles for the “Republican Rundown” will highlight the lives of men and women inside and outside of the great state of North Carolina who are making an impact on election integrity.

My first selection is David Goetze.  Many of our members know him as “Major Dave”.  A native of Raleigh NC, David is a retired Army Major with honors that include being selected “Soldier of the Year” in 1976; graduating with honors in his Officer Candidate School in 1982, recipient of the Army Meritorious Service Medal and many others.  After retirement from the Army, Major Dave has been active in veterans’ groups and charities, i.e. First Presbyterian Church Food Bank and a telethon to support United Cerebral Palsy.

Although he moved to VA to be near his grandchildren, his heart is still in the Old North State.  For the last five years, David has dedicated his life to investigating election fraud and has addressed legislative committees on this issue.  Through his research and work with data management systems, he exposes flaws and deficiencies that exist in our present system of tabulating and processing votes.  The goal is to ensure that we have fair and honest elections.

David Goetze is a Patriot and Great American. *

*David will be on a Zoom Call with the FC Election Integrity Committee on September 16,2021.  If you would like to be in attendance, please email me and indicate your interest in attending this interview and conference call.   Otherwise, David has been criss-crossing the state sharing his knowledge of election flaws and deficiencies with small and large groups.  You can catch him on Facebook, too.
