For our July 21st meeting, we are hosting a Black Conservative Voices Panel! LOCAL GOVERNMENT WATCH COMMITTEE

The Local Government Watch Committee has been active this month fighting for Republican values on all fronts. I met with two of our Republican County Commissioners, Don Martin and Gloria Whisenhunt, to discuss how the Forsyth GOP can become engaged in governing at the county level. Commissioner Whisenhunt implores us to be involved and show up. The next meeting for the Forsyth County Commissioners will be July 29th at 2:00pm at the Forsyth Government Center.

We have also been fighting extremely hard to challenge what is happening in our School Board and hold our Board members accountable. A special meeting was held at the Board of Education on June 29th in which our Vice Chairman along with other local Republicans spoke during the public comments about the dangers of Critical Race Theory and various topics. The School Board said that CRT is not in their curriculum however, $149,000 has allocated for “Racial Equity and Antiracism Training”. Apparently, our presence at the meeting was the largest Republican presence ever - as we had nearly 40 Republicans show up. We will continue to fight at the next meeting before the school year begins and we need your help! Be on the lookout for more information.

FUNDRAISING & EVENT COMMITTEE

We had an amazing turn out Saturday for the Kernersville 4th of July Parade. I believe the count was 45 people! Thank you to everyone who participated, those who worked behind the scenes, took pictures, walked, helped set up, donated items, and decorated! We are doing this, we are making moves and people will know about the Republicans of Forsyth County! We have had two events in the past month, great growth and participation for our party.

Coming up, we have our Summertime Sizzler BBQ scheduled for Saturday, July 31 5 p.m.- 7p.m. at Jack Warren Park in Lewisville. 2020 was a long year so let's make up for lost time and catch up! After supper, you can head on over to see "The Catalinas" perform for free at the Shallowford Square at 7 p.m. Bring your favorite dessert item to share! If you can't stay, we've got you covered! To go plates will be available for pick up at the Jack Warren Pavilion. Cash and cards will be accepted. Pricing will be available closer to the event, based on registrations. Please register using the link below for catering purposes!   https://www.eventbrite.com/e/162491587713

If you have any friends or family members who are interested in joining our Fundraising & Events Committee, please let me know! We love our volunteers! ❤️

TARGETED OUTREACH COMMITTEE

The Forsyth County Republicans had a booth at the Winston-Salem Juneteenth Festival on June 16th at Bailey Park. Juneteenth is an annual celebration held by African Americans to commemorate emancipation from slavery in Texas on June 19, 1865. We had several GOP volunteers from the Targeted Outreach Committee and the Voter Registration Committee and we were well received. Many people stopped by the booth to have conversations. A book written by the Forsyth County GOP Chairman Ken Raymond, entitled Black Political History: from the Arch of Safety into the Mouth of the Lion, was available for sale, and we handed out free ice water and candy. It was a great day for making connections with the community!

The Targeted Outreach Committee has developed a First Responder Care Team. This group of volunteers will be bringing snacks and thank you notes to First Responders in our community throughout the year. Last week we delivered items to 5 police precincts, 2 fire stations and the sheriff's office in honor of July 4th to let them know how much the Forsyth County Republicans appreciate all they do for our community.

If you would like to be a part of this Care Team, please contact Colleen Lopina at [email protected]. We could use donations of money to purchase food and drink items and volunteers to help deliver them. This is a fun way to get involved and support our First Responders!
