Vol. 2, No. 25

CHAIRMAN'S CORNER

Ken Raymond, Chairman
Will the Winston-Salem’s Vaccine Policy create a Wave of Lawsuits?
Anyone that’s worked in local government knows that local officials usually go to extremes to avoid lawsuits. All policies and procedures are typically evaluated by a team of lawyers before they are officially adopted. This is supposed to help ensure that local governments will not get mired in one lawsuit after another.
But that was before the pandemic. Now, Winston-Salem’s city government is following its big city counterparts and throwing caution to the wind. Last month, the city council voted unanimously to adopt its own vaccine policy which requires full time employees to be vaccinated within six weeks of October 25th. Additionally, the city will pay $1,000 bonus to employees that comply and $500 to part-time employees.
The city council considered punishing those that refuse to be vaccinated by denying them promotions or terminating them. Those options are not a part of the policy; however, the unvaccinated only will be punished with higher insurance premiums. Which seems like a violation of the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment, but constitutional rights don’t seem to matter these days.
Furthermore, there was no discussion about the liability the city would face if any of its employees has an adverse reaction to the vaccine. No discussion, not a word. And there was no mention of the latest Covid-19 VAERS report.
VAERS is the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System which was created in 1990. It was designed for vaccine safety and is managed by the Center for Disease Control and the Food and Drug Administration. Medical providers are required to report any vaccine side effects and complications into this system. You can read about the VAERS system, and their reports, by clicking here.
According to VAERS, between December 14, 2020, and July 9, 2021, there have been 10,991 reported deaths post-COVID-19 vaccination or 70 deaths nationwide each day. VAERS also reports about half a million adverse events reported in the same period, 48,385 of which were considered serious injuries. Some of these include 445 cases of immune system disorder, 127,421 cases of anaphylaxis, 5,049 cases of Bell’s palsy and 9,471 blood clotting disorders. Nearly 3,000 women also reported having experienced adverse events, with 1,072 miscarriages or premature births.
Is that enough reason to resist the vaccine? I think so.
There are, perhaps, even more cases going unreported. While working at the United Medical Center in New York, Physician Assistant Deborah Conrad told Naturalnews.com, in October, that medical professionals are being discouraged from reporting vaccine side effects to VAERS. Conrad herself reported 50 adverse effects, including four deaths, and she was reprimanded for reporting it.
So, if a Winston-Salem city employee gets vaccinated only because that employee had to comply with city policy and that employee suffers from a blood clot. What will our local government do for that employee? He or she wouldn’t be in that condition if it weren’t for city policy. Or, if a pregnant employee receives the vaccination and suffers a miscarriage, will she and her family be compensated? They would never have been traumatized by such an event if it weren’t for the vaccine policy.
Responsible public servants would at least discuss the VAERS report. And Mayor Allen Joines claims to be getting guidance from health experts since the outbreak began. Are they not telling him about the VAERS report or is he ignoring it?
Of course, our city government wouldn’t have to worry about being sued into oblivion if they allowed their employees to make their own health decisions. But unfortunately, they unanimously decided to follow the trend of totalitarianism that is sweeping the nation.
That could very well cost the Winston-Salem taxpayers in more ways than one.
