FCGOP Text Message Campaign Increases Voter Turnout In Lewisville

By Ken Raymond

For the first time in its history, the Forsyth County Republican Party launched a text message campaign and sent thousands of text messages to Republicans and Unaffiliated voters in Lewisville during the 2023 municipal elections.

And the results were a considerable increase in voter turnout since 2021.

About 3,600 text messages were sent on Monday, November 6th to remind Lewisville voters that Election Day was Tuesday, November 7th. And on Election Day, 3,600 more messages were sent encouraging them to get out and vote.

Currently, Lewisville has nine voting precincts, but the town only had eight precincts in 2021. Among the Lewisville precincts from both 2021 and 2023, there was a big jump in participation after voters received our text messages. Turnout in precinct 71 increased 68.4 percent since the last election; precinct 132 increased 45 percent; turnout in precinct 73 grew 39.8 percent; precinct 75 increased 34.5 percent increase; and precinct 74 finished with a 16 percent increase in voter turnout.

The only anomaly was precinct 131 which saw a 11.6 percent decrease in voter turnout. Precincts 134 and 135 were not apart of Lewisville in 2021. The turnout in 134, on election night, was 1,463 and 250 from precinct 135.

According to the unofficial 2023 election results, about 5,092 voters showed up at the polls on Election Day. But in 2021, only 2,616 showed up to vote.

Congratulations to the Elections Day winners!

Dale Folwell Recognized As One Of The Few "Political Adults" In The Country

By Ken Raymond

NC Treasurer, and Forsyth County’s native, Dale Folwell was recognized in the most recent edition of Governing as one of the few “political adults” outside of Washington, D.C. that truly serves his constituents.

Published since 1987, Governing is a trusted source of record for elected, appointed and other public officials looking to manage the present and anticipate the future of state and local government.

The article cited Dale Folwell’s success stabilizing and strengthening the state’s pension and health-care systems. Folwell has also preserved North Carolina’s AAA bond rating while increasing transparency for taxpayers on the cost of state benefits. Additionally, Folwell won an award from the North Carolina Open Government Coalition.

Others counted as solid leaders, in the article, were Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Gov. Kim Reynolds of Iowa.

Congressman Matt Gaetz Stirs Up The Forsyth County GOP

By Ken Raymond

It was an evening that will not be forgotten. Over 200 individuals arrived at the Legacy Stables and Events Center, last month, with great excitement and anticipation. And because the controversy surrounding the selection of a new speaker of the U.S. House, many believed that our keynote speaker wouldn’t show up.

Be he did, and he did not disappoint.

Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz arrived in grand style with his wife Ginger on his arm and in great spirits, which is likely due to the election of Congressman Mike Johnson as the new Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives two days earlier.

Feelings about Congressman Gaetz are mixed, within GOP circles, because of his motion to vacate the office of speaker. But in Forsyth County, he was greeted warmly, and everyone was happy to take pictures with him.

After an introduction by Congresswoman Virginia Foxx and Congressman Dan Bishop, Congressman Gaetz provided an update on events in Washington, D.C., and a behind the scenes perspective on the speaker selection process. He also talked about the importance of passing single-subject spending bills, eliminating the federal debt, and exposing the corruption of the Biden Administration.
