Early Voting and Election Day Paid and Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Jobs

Poll Observers Observe poll staff and voters, looking for irregularities - like not looking at a photo ID, not requiring voters to state name and address, swaying voters as to how to vote, etc. Training provided by the FCGOP and NCGOP. On-site Poll Observers work 4 1/2 hour shifts and sign up online for desired shifts and locations. At-large poll observers can visit any polling place in the county at any time, while 'on-site poll observers' are assigned to specific polling places and time slots based on their sign-up.  A maximum of two (2) poll observers (POs)and one at-large PO may be in any given polling location at any given time. Individuals may serve multiple polling locations and/or time slots throughout the early voting period and on election day itself. At large, Poll Observers fill any gaps and aid poll observers who report issues and seek assistance. Please contact [email protected] if interested.

Poll Greeters—typically outside during Early Voting and on Election Days—hand out literature and respond to questions, which might mean directing people to another source. They are needed during early voting and on election days. A sign-up website link will be provided closer to the election. Greeters also serve as outside observers, reporting when they see campaigning inside the "NO CAMPAIGNING ZONE," harassment, etc.

Please contact volunteer@forsythgop.org if interested.

Multipartisan Assistance Team

Volunteer - and get paid - to provide assistance with mail-in absentee voting to voters in facilities such as nursing homes, hospitals, clinics, or rest homes

What is a "Multipartisan Assistance Team"? A Multipartisan Assistance Team, or "MAT," is a group of persons appointed by the local county board of elections office to provide assistance with mail-in absentee voting to voters living at facilities such as nursing homes, hospitals, clinics, or rest homes. The Team's makeup includes, at minimum, two people with different party affiliations (or, in the alternative, persons appointed by a bipartisan county board of elections). So, if you request help from a MAT, you should receive impartial, professional assistance. Their job is to help you vote, but your voting choices will remain confidential.

What to Expect: - Must be appointed by a five-member Board of Elections - Must complete the certification training (certification is good for two years) - Must sign a declaration swearing or affirming abidance of the law regarding voter assistance - MAT Members are responsible for assisting voters with the absentee by mail voting process - Members will receive compensation for their service ($10.86/hour + mileage)

How Do I Become a MAT Member? Qualifications: - Must be registered to vote in Forsyth County - Must not accept payment by any political party or candidate for work as a MAT team member. - Must not hold any office in a State, congressional district, or county political party or organization - Must not be a manager or treasurer for any candidate or political party (convention delegates are exempt) - Must not be an owner, manager, director, or employee of a covered facility where a resident requests assistance - Must not be a registered sex offender.

You understand that submitting fraudulent or falsely completed declarations and documents associated with absentee voting is a Class I felony under NC G.S. 163.
