IN MEMORY OF STANLEY ELROD

We, along with so many others in Forsyth County were saddened by the news this week about Stan Elrod.  Stan Elrod, spent his career in education.   He began his career as a social studies teacher and basketball coach in York, South Carolina. He then moved to Winston-Salem in 1981 to teach and coach basketball at RJ Reynolds High School. He also served as the athletics director for the Demons and coached several other sports before becoming an assistant principal there under Bob Deaton. He served as the principal at RJ Reynolds High School from 1991-2005 before he helped open Reagan High School and served as its first principal from 2005-2010 until he retired. He left retirement to become the WS/FCS high school athletics director in 2012 for several years before his second retirement.  We know, without a doubt, Stan Elrod would have made the same big and positive impacts on the WS/FCS school board that he created throughout his life in education!

Stan Elrod was well-known and well-respected by former teachers, coaches, families, students, and anyone whose life he touched.  He devoted his life to education. More specifically he devoted his life to so many of us who attended RJ Reynolds, Reagan, and WS/FC schools.  He will be deeply missed and our thoughts are with his family at this time.

THE LOSS OF STAN ELROD

We are all deeply saddened by the loss of Stan Elrod this week. After hearing the news, I was  also told several stories about how he made a great difference in the lives of many young people during his time as principal of RJ Reynolds High School.

This is a tremendous loss to those he influenced as an educator and an even greater difficulty for his family. Our thoughts and prayers will be with them during this time.

But nonetheless, we must forge on. Stan Elrod’s name is on the ballot as a candidate for the Forsyth County School Board in District 2 and early voting has already begun. Many voters have already cast their ballots in favor of Elrod and many others do not know what happens next.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

To fill this vacancy, we must follow state elections law and the rules that govern the local and state Republican Party. Accordingly, the executive committee of the Forsyth County Republican Party will meet on Monday, Oct. 31st at 6:30 pm. During that time, the committee members will appoint a candidate to replace Stan Elrod. And when the polls close on November 8th, the replacement candidate will be awarded Stan Elrod’s votes.

VOTE FOR STAN ELROD

At this time, it is important for all of us to encourage district 2 residents to continue to vote for Stan Elrod. They can rest assured that his values and principles will be reflected in the replacement candidate appointed by the executive committee. Thereby, Stan Elrod’s values will continue with us.
